Mineral of the meeting:
Zemannite,
[Zn2+Fe3+(TeO3)3]2[Mg(H2O)6]∙nH2O n≤3
Zemannite is a rare tellurite = tellurate (IV) mineral exhibiting a [ZnFe3+(TeO3)3]- framework structure of space-group symmetry P3 (pseudosymmetry P63/m respectively P63). It is characterized by wide channel ways running parallel to the c axis. They host Mg[6](H2O)6 groups and, in addition, isolated water molecules. The mineral is named in honor of Prof. Dr. Josef Zemann, who has contributed greatly to the knowledge of tellurium and selenium oxysalts. The mineral of the meeting is dedicated to Prof. Dr. Josef Zemann (25 May 1923 to 16 October 2022).
